| Scotland 0-0 Northern Ireland |
A disappointing evening. The Scotland squad were unable to defeat a 10-man Northern Ireland.
The Northern Irish even came close to taking the lead when Allan McGregor felled Feeney in the box. Luckily the Rangers
keeper, deflecting Healy's spot-kick, kept the ball out of the Scotland goal.

| Disappointment at Macedonia v Scotland ticket allocation |
Scotland have been allocated tickets for a the World Cup qualifying match in Macedonia.
They have been given a paltry 1000 tickets. Because of this low allocation the SFA have decided that first dibs for
tickets will go to supporters club members with a total of 5 points from away match applications. Undoubtedly, many will
be disappointed.

| Scotland v Argentina called off |

| Scotland v Argentina friendly possibility - SFA seek fans' opinions |
The SFA is taking again about the possibility of inviting Argentina to Hampden Park, for a
friendly match on November 19. However, SFA chief executive Gordon Smith seems reluctant to make the decision to bring
the South Americans to Scotland and is looking to the fans for their opinions.
The worry is the ticket price. With Argentina looking for a hefty fee just to turn up, the expense is likely to be passed to the
fans in the form of increased ticket prices. Up to £50!!

| FIFA Rankings - Scotland set to pass England? |

put Scotland ahead of the English team? Let's hope so:)

| Czech Republic 3 Scotland 1 |
Scotland suffered a 3-1 deafeat in Prague. Out-played by the Czechs, one of the favoutites for Euro 2008, the
Scotland squad showed off some fine football, but were eventually bettered by the superior team.
30/05/08 |
 |
| Scotland 1 Croatia 1 |
The Scotland squad succeeded where the England team failed - a respectable result against Croatia and no ebarrassing
goalie-related incidents. We would all have prefered a victory, but George Burley's first effort as Scotland coach
has ended on a respectable note.

 |
| Scotland fixtures arranged: Czech Republic v Scotland and Scotland v Northern Ireland |
Two new Scotland fixtures have been arranged - Czech Republic v Scotland on 30 May and Scotland v Northern Ireland on 20 August.
With two games - England and Iran - recently ruled out it was looking unlikely that any fixture would take place in May. And,
with most other teams having organised games it looked as though that any game, if it did take place, would be against
a minor team like Lapland or the Vatican City Guard. In light of this, George Burley has done us proud. Securing a tie against the
mighty Czech Republic - ranked 6th in the world - and a further game against Northern Ireland will have taken some organising. Let's
hope he'll lead Scotland to a similarly impressive result against Croatia.
25/03/08 |
 |
| Iran v Scotland ruled out |
George Burley has effectively ruled out the proposed Iran v Scotland tie on 28 May. As with the suggested
England tie, Old Firm commitments are making such a clash impossible.

 |
| Iran invites Scotland for friendly on 28 May |
The SFA are considering an invite for the Scotland team to face Iran in a friendly match this summer.
Scotland last played Iran 30 years ago in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. Then the match ended a 1-1 draw.
An Iran - Scotland tie will give Scotland a chance to show who is now the better team and recover the pride lost
so many years ago.

 |
| Scotland v Croatia, public tickets now on sale |
With less than 3 weeks before the match the SFA have decided to release public sale tickets for the Scotland v Croatia game.

dominance of UK football. Demand is expected to be high.

| England v Scotland postponed |
There will be no England v Scotland match this summer. The SFA has reported that, because Celtic and Rangers players may

 |
| England v Scotland in the summer? |
The Scotland Squald and Tartan Army could be on their way to Wembley this summer. The BBC has suggested that
England could be asking Scotland for a friendly match this year. Whether this happens remains to be seen.

| George Burley - confrimed as Scotland Coach |
Job well done by the SFA. Compensation for Southampton has been arranged and George Burley has signed on as
Scotland coach. First job: show the English how to defeat Croatia.
24/01/08 |
 |
| George Burley - All but confrimed as Scotland Coach |
George Burley will be revealed as the new Scotland Coach. Reports on Reporting Scotland and Radio 5
are claiming that Southampton boss George Burley will be the new Scotland boss.
Many are surprised at the decison. Mark McGhee was, for many, the preferred choice. And ex-Rangers boss
Graeme Souness had significant support. Regardless, the SFA are believed to have opted for the ex-Hearts
manager with 11 Scotland caps to his name. Initial responses are positive and the supporters seem
happy with the choice.
The news is expected to be confirmed in the next day or so (imminently??).

 |
| Scotland v Croatia friendly, 26 March |
The first Scotland match of 2008 has been arranged. The Scotland squad, with their new manager, will face
the might of Croatia in late March.
This match will be important on many levels. The Croats are looking for some respectable oppisotion to prepare them
for the Euro 2008 finals, which Scotland will provide. Possibly more important however is the chance for the Scotland team
to establish themselves best in Britain. With Croatia having recently inflicted home and away defeats on England, a Scottish
victory would establish Scotland as the most dominant national team in the UK. Millions will be watching in anticipation.
Dates for ticket sales have not been released, but with only 9 weeks to go we should expect to hear something soon:)

 |
| Scotland Friendlies - Argentina and Hungary |
Word recently got out about two likely Scotland fiendly matches - against Argentina on the March 26 and Hungary on August 20.
Unfortunately the Argentina game looks like its not going to go ahead. The problem is that the Argentina team have made excessive cash demands.
Reports suggest that the Argentinian Federation have asked for an extra cash lump sum. They want this on top of guaranteed gate receipts
and money from TV revenue. Currently, things don't look good, but SFA chief, Gordon Smith, still hopes to convince the world number one
team to be the new Scotland coach's first opponents.

Unlike, Euro 2008, half of the home matches - against Holland and Iceland - will be played on Wednesdays.

 |
| Alex McLeish resigns |
Alex McLeish has resigned as Scotland coach. Having been offered nearly four times his salary to move,
McLeish is moving to join Birmingham City.
The Tartan Army, are gutted. McLeish had helped the Scotland team rise to a level of stature and respect
that was previously unknown. Scotland almost qualified for Euro 2008, and they are now ranked higher than ever
before. Unfortunately, the SFA were unable to match a Brimingham City salary which far outstripped what McLeish
had been earning as Scotland coach.

| Scotland exit Euro 2008 after 2-1 deafeat by Italy at Hampden |
Scotland's Euro 2008 dream is over. Having suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of World Cup champions, Scotland were pushed into
third place in Euro 2008 Group B.
The Tartan Army were out in force. Hampden was filled to capacity and every pub in the land was packed to the
rafters with fans looking for a Scotland victory. And despite an early Italy lead the fans held hope for a Scotland win.
Barry Ferguson did his best with an equaliser and many admirable efforts were made to give Scotland the lead. The final goal,
however controversial, was Italy's, and Scotland ended the day without a place in the Euro 2008 finals.

| British Olympic Association hoping to field a British team in 2012 Olympics |
Simon Clegg, Chief of the British Olympic Association, has claimed to the BBC that the BOA will field a British team in
the 2012 London Olympics. This is despite stern opposition from the SFA and Welsh FA.
Support for a British Olympic team is centred mainly with the English FA. Scottish and Welsh Football Associations have resolutley
refused to even consider the notion to the extent of boycotting all discussions on the matter. Northern Ireland, who originally
favoured the idea, are showing signs of waning support. Irish representatives said "we would not want to compromise our national identity".
The English FA obviously has no similar worry.
ScotiaFootball.com is 100% against any British soccer team. Let's hope the 4 nations unite against this lunacy, which as ex-Scotland
Coach Craig Brown said "would be the thin edge of the wedge".
30/10/07 |
 |
| Scotland v Italy tickets - no public sale |
Bad news for anyone outside of the Scotland Supporters Club. Those hoping to buy tickets for the
Scotland v Italy match will be unable to buy tickets for the match.
Demand for the final Scotland match in the Euro 2008 qualification has been huge. For this reason,
remaining tickets, after the initial Scotland Supporters Club allocation, will be distributed
further to the SSC on a one more ticket to member basis. Any other Scotland fans looking for a
ticket will be disappointed.

| Georgia 2-0 Scotland |
Scotland lost to second-to-bottom Georgia. With a recent string of victories, everyone was hoping
that Scotland were going to produce yet another impressive victory. How wrong they were.
Despite being one of the lesser teams in the group and expected to lose Georgia were, unfortunately,
the better team. They played the better football. Because of that, and a lacklustre performance by
Scotland, Georgia took all three points. Now Scotland must win against Italy to qualify.

| Scotland triumph over Ukraine - Scotland 3-1 Ukraine |
Scotland have done it again! With three goals from Kenny Miller, Lee McCulloch and

FIFA rankings put Scotland 14th
Scotland have climbed back to their best FIFA ranking position of 14th.
With a string of victories under their belts the Scotland squad picked up an impressive 112 more
points, pushing them 9 places up the rankings. If the current level of form continues it is
not unfeasible that they will climb further next month. Top ten?? Let's hope so.

| Scotland victorious in Paris - France 0-1 Scotland |
A superb James McFadden goal has put Scotland at the head of Euro 2008 group B.
Few expected more than a drew. Playing a defensive 4-5-1 formation it was apparent that McLeish was aiming primarily at
securing the Scotland goal and limiting any chance of France scoring. One point was the the obvious target.
France attacked the Scotland goal relentlessly. With a tight defence and superb goalkeeping from Craig Gordon kept the
scores level. Despite this status quo, Scotland were not about to go home with fewer points than necessary. And
James McFadden took the opportunity to grab all three. 64 minutes into the match he took a superb shot at goal,
sinking the ball into the net and giving Scotland victory and earning the adulation of thousands of Scottish fans.
Scotland now sit at the top of Euro 2008 Group B. Let's hope this continues.

| Scotland win 3-1 against Lithuania |
Scotland win again and climb to second place.
Scotland started the match positively. With a series of attack on the Lithuanian goal, the opposotion were
under serious fire. Eventually eforts paid off when, in the 31st minute, Kris Boyd hammered home a Darren Fletcher
corner. Unfotunately this was answered by the Lithuanians just after half time. They were awarded a
very questionable penalty and levelled the score.
Luckily Scotland Coach, McLeish, responded with well-chosen substutions. McFadden, then Maloney and Beattie were sent on
to boost Scottish efforts. And it worked. With goals from McManus (77) and McFadden (83) Scotland finished with all three points.

| Boyd gives Scotland victory at Pittodrie |
Another victory for Scotland. However this was far from easy.
South Africa dominated in the first half, almost scoring in the 30th minute. Meanwhile
Scotland struggled to keep the ball out of of their own half.
After the break Scotland moved up a gear. Taking greater control of the game they pushed hard
against the visitors. In the 71st minute this paid off when Darren Fletcher fed the ball to substitute
Kris Boyd who expertly put the ball in the South African net. And that, gladly, was enough to seal victory.

Most people were hoping that Scotland would sneak back into the FIFA top 20. Unfortunately, this did not happen.
With the same number of points as last month the Scotland team were pushed up only one position,
ahead of Russia and just behind Poland.
Possibly more interesting is that England have fallen out of the FIFA top 10 and now sit in 12th position. Not a good
day for Steve McClaren.

Scotland is now considered the 19th best team in the world.

One small consolation - we are still in good company sitting alongside teams like Mexico, Turkey
and Russia.

Scotland's 100% record in the Euro 2008 championship came to a sudden end courtesy of two goals from
the Ukraine.
Adopting a defensive approach, the Scots resisted Ukraine's effort for the first half. Unfortunately, Olexander Kucher sank
Scotlands hopes after 60 minutes play. A Kenny Miller effort at 80 minutes almost equalised, but a penalty by Andriy Shevchenko in
the dying minutes secured Ukriane's victory.

| Scotland 1, France 0 |
Scottish football continues to impress. Scotland became justified leaders of Euro 2008 Group B by forcing World Cup

 |
| Lithuania 1, Scotland 2 |
Scotland continued their impressive start to Euro 2008 by beating Lithuania 2-1 away from home.
Scotland played like a team reborn. Fresh from their 6-0 drubbing of the Faroes Isles, they set out to sink
Lithuania. After an impressive but goaless first half, they took the lead when Christian Dailly headed home a Naysmith corner
in the 46th minute. They extended the lead further when, in the 62nd minute, Kenny Miller put the ball in the net from the 12 yard line.
Lithuania responded with Darius Miceika scoring from a suberb overhead kick. Unfortunately, for them, it was not enough to prevent
another Scotland victory.
